Ember Medical Bill Review

Understand every charge before you pay it.

No referral fees, ever. Ember works for you and the people you choose to involve.

All support is provided remotely by phone or video. No home visits.

Who it’s for

Individuals, families, and loved ones who want help understanding medical bills and Medicare or insurance statements.

Your voice and choices

The person receiving support is at the center of the plan. We listen to their goals, help them express preferences and questions, and involve family members or loved ones with permission. When a representative is needed, their voice and preferences still matter and are included as fully as possible.

How our conversations work

Stacey asks what you received, what insurance processed, what you have already paid, and which charges you have questioned. The review turns inconsistencies into specific questions and a call script for the billing office or insurer.

What you get

  • Up to 3 months of medical bills and insurance or Medicare statements for one person, checked line by line against what insurance processed.
  • We flag possible duplicate charges, charges insurance should have covered, claims never sent to insurance, and unclear or bundled charges.
  • Within 5 business days: a plain-English explanation of what is owed.
  • Written question list and call script, with the right people to call.
  • Negotiation and formal appeals referred to a billing advocate.
What we look for and what you receive
  • Compare bill dates, providers, charges, insurance payments, and patient balances against the statements you supply.
  • Flag a repeated charge, a bill that appears not to have reached insurance, or a patient balance that does not match the explanation of benefits.
  • Prepare questions about denials, unclear bundled charges, and charges that may need an insurer or billing-office correction.
  • Receive a written explanation, the specific entries to question, the right office to contact, and a call script. The insurer or billing office confirms coverage and corrections.

What you no longer have to do

You no longer have to make the first billing call without knowing what the statement means.

What it doesn’t include

No coverage determinations, guaranteed savings, negotiation, or appeals representation; negotiation and appeals are by referral.

Illustrative, not actual clients.

Maria and her father

Maria could not match her father’s bill to his insurance statement. Ember Medical Bill Review explained the entries, flagged a possible mismatch, and gave her a specific question list for the billing office.
